Healthy longevity is your command post for information about living a long and healthy life

Most people find that it’s tough to get the information that they need to manage their health. Some of us are suspicious of the current medical practice of treating symptons rather than maintaining good health. There is so much information, so many products, so many ways to exercise and so many people claiming that they have the answer. It’s easy to just throw up your hands and do nothing while your continue to age at the same rate and allow yourself to be loaded up with expensive prescription drugs with their complex side effects. Surely it is better to establish a healthy baseline of diet, exercise and supplementation that supports your body’s ability to maintain itself than to micromanage symptoms. At least that’s how it seems to me.

Healthy longevity is a goal for most of us or becomes a goal as we grow older. Achieving a long and healthy life requires understanding of the causes and symptoms of aging as a first step but it also demands commitment of time and resources. For most of us, aging well doesn't just happen.

When I was young, it seemed only natural that I would stay young looking and healthy as I grew older. Despite the lines and wrinkles in the face that I shaved every morning, so long as my body seemed healthy and able, I could persuade myself that I wasn't really getting old. Things changed, however, when pain became a normal part of my life and my legs stopped being dependable. At that point, I committed myself to learning more about aging and life extension. Why does the body break down? What do we know about slowing this process? Is it possible to turn back the clock and restore some of the damage to appearance and function?

What I find is that there is a growing body of knowledge about how and why the human body ages. Armed with this knowledge, each of us is able to develop our own personal life extension program. Yours will be different from mine in detail. They will all include physical activity and good nutrition but there are many options.
